See individual listings on the programme page for access and content notes. We have tried to provide notes that are as comprehensive as possible, but please bear in mind that we might have missed something — if so, we apologise in advance.

access measures offered at the festival

  • Wheelchair access throughout the building, including wheelchair-accessible toilets (read CCA’s accessibility guide here)

  • English subtitles for every film (but not every introductory video/speech/Q&A)

  • Captions for several screenings (Killer, The Road, Fairy Tale, Comrade Policeman, Warmth, Burial, Collection of Surrealist Eastern European Animation [1965-2022], Colors of Tobi, Brick Head, Lena River)

Audience Access fund

Travel costs

Travel costs for persons receiving benefits and/or refugees living in Scotland: return bus/subway/train fare for those living in Greater Glasgow and return train fare for those living in Mainland Scotland

COMMUTING FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY-RELATED DISABILITIES

Up to £20 for taxi costs for the entire duration of the festival

CHILDCARE COSTS

A maximum of £40 (for the entire duration of the festival) allocated towards childcare costs per parent receiving benefits and/or a refugee parent

  • The Access Fund has a capacity of £450. These funds will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis until the Fund has been used up or 11:59AM on 16 September, whichever is earlier. Unfortunately, we will not be able to process any applications sent after this period.

  • To apply for an Access Fund bursary, please email us at samizdatfest@hotmail.com with the subject line ‘Access Fund Application/Enquiry’. You may or may not briefly outline your situation, but please state the Audience Access Fund category for which you are applying. It doesn’t have to be a formal application at all, so please don’t worry about this too much and only tell us what you feel comfortable telling.

  • If you need financial assistance in order to attend the festival but are not sure whether any of the categories of the Access Fund mentioned above apply to you, please feel free to email us, too. We would love to know about the ways in which we can make Samizdat a more accessible festival for everyone.

  • We will not ask you to provide any highly personal information, and we will not share your information with anyone, under any circumstances.
