Access Information

ACcess and content notes

See individual listings on the programme page for access and content notes. We have tried to provide notes that are as comprehensive as possible, but please bear in mind that we might have missed something — if so, we apologise in advance.

access at the festival

  • Wheelchair access throughout each venue, including wheelchair-accessible toilets (read accessibility guides for The Pyramid at Anderston and GFT). Please note, The Lower Hall at the Pyramid at Anderston is wheelchair accessible through a ramp at a side entrance. There are 9 steps between the level where it is located and the rest of the venue, meaning that to make way to the accessible toilet or other parts of the building, wheelchair users will need to re-enter via the main entrance. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause

  • English subtitles for every film (unless it is a film featuring no spoken language)

  • Descriptive subtitles at most screenings: please consult individual listings

Audience Access Fund

We know that the cost of tickets — as well as things like childcare or travel — can make it harder for some people to attend events. That’s why we have the Audience Access Fund. This fund is here to help cover any costs that might stop you from coming to the festival.

It’s open to anyone who needs support – for example, if you are an asylum seeker or refugee, disabled, unemployed, or facing other financial challenges.

You do not need to show proof of your situation. The application process is simple: if you need help paying for tickets, travel, or childcare, please fill out the form on our website, or email us at hello@samizdatfest.co.uk. Your personal information will only be seen by the festival team.

Funds are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note we cannot cover travel costs from outside the local area, and can only offer up to £50 per person towards childcare costs.
